Override Foreign Tax Credit Relief

This section is accessed via the Data input tab within the tax return and allows you to override the Foreign Tax Credit Relief calculated by the Taxfiler computation.

Taxfiler follows the general guidelines for calculating Foreign Tax Credit Relief that are included in HMRC Helpsheet 263 Calculating Foreign Tax Credit Relief on income. However, Taxfiler does not apply the limits and rules of the large number of Double Tax Treaty arrangements that are applicable for different countries.

Override the amount of relief claimed – here Taxfiler is unable to calculate the Foreign Tax Credit Relief correctly, you will need to calculate manually any relief due and enter the figure in this field.
