Payments to a trade union etc. for death benefits

This screen is accessed via the Data input tab within the tax return. Relief is available for a trade union subscription which entitles the tax payer to a pension, life assurance or funeral benefits. Relief is given on half of the part of the subscription which provides the benefits (up to a maximum of £100).

• Description – enter brief details of the trade union or friendly society
• Death benefit portion – enter the portion of the subscription which is applicable for death benefits. Taxfiler will restrict the amount entered on the tax return to half of this value or £100, whichever is lower.
