Online Filing Passwords

This tab is accessed from the SETTINGS (cog icon), on the Taxfiler menu ribbon.

This screen shows a list of the filing credentials that you have setup in your account. You need at least one set of credentials in order to file online.

Adding HMRC credentials

To file tax returns to HMRC you will need a Government Gateway UserID and Password for your HMRC agent account.

Click Add HMRC credentials and complete the fields, as described below. Note that this button will not be available if the maximum number of credentials have already been added, or if you do not have sufficient permissions to modify credentials.

Adding Companies House credentials

To file accounts electronically with Companies House you must apply to Companies House to be a presenter. See here for additional information.

After you have received your Presenter ID, click Add Companies House credentials and complete the fields, as described below. Note that this button will not be available if the maximum number of credentials have already been added, or if you do not have sufficient permissions to modify credentials.

Modifying credentials

To modify existing credentials click on the credential you wish to amend.

Deleting credentials

To delete credentials you should click on the type of the credential you wish to delete, then click Delete credentials.

Credential fields

  • UserID/PresenterID Enter your Government Gateway UserID (for HMRC submissions) or the Companies House Presenter ID (for Companies House submissions).
  • Password/Authentication code The Password or Authentication Code for the service. Note that passwords are encrypted when stored and cannot be displayed. When editing credentials, leave the password field blank unless you wish to change the password.
  • Submission types (HMRC Gateway ID only) Tick the types of submission that the specified UserID and Password are to be used for. This is useful if you have different credentials for SA and CT filing.
  • Email address This is the default email address that will be used to receive submission receipts when filing with these credentials. This email address can be overridden when submitting.
